Wow. She said "You are a good person" so many times that it makes me think she was trying to assuage guilt.

My favorites were (not direct quotes…I couldn't make myself watch it again to get them) "Goodness is not based on perfection, obedience, or…" (I forgot what the other thing was.) and the "Doing what is best for YOU makes you a good/courageous person." REALLY?

  • What do you expect from the "Me Generation" eh Tricia? The ydon't realize how pathetic this truly is. Sad.

  • I don't affiliate myself with any political party, but I am a Christian. Hate to tell you, Todd, but calling Democrats "Nazis" isn't going to win you any real friends, except people who enjoy hate mongering and placing labels on those who they don't agree with. If you're claiming to be a Christian, then you really should be focusing your energy on loving your fellow man rather than on bashing those you disagree with and calling them names, along with trying to win people to your "side."

By the way, I am of Jewish descent, and I have ancestors and friends of ancestors who were murdered at Auschwitz and at other concentration camps during WWII. I think what the Nazi party did was far beyond horrific, but I also believe that ultimately, God will be the judge of those who were involved in this travesty. Some were ultimately changed after the war, and repented. Others probably still believed in the cause that they had fought for and have died or are still living in their sin. Many, MANY German soldiers did not serve simply to appease Hitler and to justify his cause. They served their country the way any soldier of any country would serve – as a matter of patriotic duty. My point is, only God knows the heart. It's not our place to point fingers. Sin is sin, yes. But just because a member of the Nazi party is smiling and laughing at the pain of another in a photograph from WWII, that does not mean that the person may not have been convicted of their sin later in life.

At any rate, I just don't like seeing Christians choosing sides in the political arena, and then using that side to spread hatred among people. It's fine to be affiliated with a political party and be a Christian. It's fine to stand for truth and justice. It's even fine to say that there is absolute truth. I believe there is absolute truth, and that many things ARE black and white. My guide is the Bible. I just choose not to pour that belief into a political view because I see how politics affects people. They start rooting so much for a "side," that they lose their upward focus. Ultimately, Democrats and Republicans will be living together in Heaven, along with many others who WE might not expect to see there. Who knows – we, ourselves may not be there. But I pray we will be.

    God bless you, Todd.

  • @Anonymous,

Thank you for the thoughtful comment. Please identify yourself next time, it helps foster a discussion. I think the Democrats have adopted a racially cleansed version of eugenics. Instead of dehumanizing the Jews as the Nazis did, Democrats dehumanize all of humanity. They are equal opportunity oppressors. Much of what drives my blogging is a concern about what the Body of Christ, the Church, will face in the future. I see Liberalism as a threat to the Church and seek to confront that threat.
