Jesus Asks Nancy Pelosi Why She Is Persecuting Him; UPDATE: Video Added

  • It is time for Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi to have a meeting with Jesus Christ, the Word she claims to love, on a street in San Fransisco. Just as it took a radical experience with Jesus to change the direction of Saul’s life, Pelosi is in a similar need. Her appeal to Jim Wallis and Matthew 25 to justify the policies of the Democratic Party have gone too far, and are actually bringing about the exact opposite that the teaching warns us about. From Weasel Zippers via Fox Nation:

On Monday during a photo opportunity for the Hunger Fast Coalition, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said the Republican budget will force seniors into starvation. The former House Speaker also used “the Gospel” to justify more government spending.

“In one of the bills before us, six million seniors are deprived of meals — homebound seniors are deprived of meals. People ask us to find our common ground, the middle ground. Is middle ground three million seniors not receiving meals? I don’t think so. We’ve got to take this conversation from a debate about numbers and dollar figures and finding middle ground there to the higher ground of national values. I don’t think the American people want any one of those six million people to lose their meals or the children who are being thrown off of Head Start and the rest of it.”

“When I hear you speak about this issue, of course it’s the Gospel of Matthew: When I was hungry, he gave me to eat and the rest of it goes on. And when I hear Reverend Wallis talk about priorities, I can’t help but think about the fact that in these same budgets, we are talking about, they give tens of billions of dollars in subsidies to Big Oil to drill when they are making a trillion dollars over 10 years in profits, that we are giving tax breaks to companies to send jobs overseas. We’re doing that as we say to seniors, homebound seniors: “You no longer will have food coming to you in your homes.”

Pelosi has been poorly advised by Wallis and fundamentally misunderstands the Matthew 25 passage she is referring to. This is the same thing Senator Al Franken did not that long ago. A Christians identity is with Jesus Christ and what someone does to a Christian, he or she ultimately does to Jesus. This truth was powerful attested to when Jesus confronted Saul on the road to Damascus.

“Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”

“Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked.

“I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” Acts 9:1-6

Failing to connect this to the Matthew 25 passage so famously quoted by supposedly the Religious Left could prove disastrous for them in the future. For by advancing their Statist agenda they are actually helping to bring about the persecution of “the least of these”, the brethren of Jesus.

31″When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. 32All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34″Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37″Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40″The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’

41″Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44″They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45″He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

46″Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” Matthew 25:31-46

A Liberal agenda that promotes the murder of the unborn and the normalization of homosexuality is going to lead to a growing intolerance of the Christian message and those who hold fast to it. This means it will lead to the persecution of Christians and ultimately Jesus Christ. So the next time you hear a Liberal talk about “the least of these” use the words of Jesus to confront them and ask them why they want to persecute Jesus.
