Christian Lawyers In The UK To Defend Religion In The Public Sphere

It is encouraging to see that Christians in the UK are aware of the need to defend their ability declare the Gospel in public. Particularly after there is a growing preference to normalize homosexuality in the country. Prior instances of this have occurred when a pastor was arrested for saying homosexuality is a sin, when a Christian couple was told they cannot be foster care parents because of their views on homosexuality, and when a doctor was kicked off an adoption board for his views on homosexuality. A group has been formed to fight for Christians in the courts. From the Telegraph:
The Christian Legal Centre (CLC) pledged to stand up against what it feels is the growing problem of traditional Christian views being “silenced or sidelined” in modern Britain.
Weeks after concluding a high-profile battle to allow an electrician to display a palm cross in his company van, the CLC said it had more than 50 similar cases on its books as a growing number of Christians seek to fight employers who they feel do not respect their faith.
Andrea Williams, CLC chief executive, said she had been “inspired” by groups like the US-based Alliance Defence Fund (ADF), which seek to raise a “new generation of lawyers to defend Christianity in the public sphere”.
With the help of the ADF, the CLC and its partner organisation, Christian Concern For Our Nation, have set up a new academy aimed at teaching the skills necessary for “servant-hearted, Christ-centred leadership in public life”.
She said the CLC – which does not ask clients for money – was receiving as many as five enquiries a day after representing electrician Colin Atkinson in his row with Wakefield District Housing, his employer.
The housing company bore the brunt of public outrage after it was disclosed that it attempted to ban Mr Atkinson from displaying a palm cross in his van, where it had been on show for 15 years.
Company staff received death threats and more than 1,000 abusive emails before eventually agreeing a settlement with Mr Atkinson that allowed him to keep the cross in his van.
Mrs Williams said: “The Christian Legal Centre will not allow Christianity to be eliminated from the public sphere or to be silenced or sidelined.
“People with traditional biblical views, particularly when it comes to sexual ethics, are being excluded from the public sphere … if you censor Christians, you end up with the first signs of tyranny”.
The CLC, which is funded by 30,000 supporters, has been compared by some observers to rich American evangelical organisations such as the ADF, which recruit and train lawyers to defend the rights of Christians.
Mrs Williams told The Observer: “The ADF are a fantastic organisation … we have been inspired by their work.
“They have got some of the best attorneys in this field and we have the great privilege of hosting them, but they don’t pay anything towards the academy.”
A country that is on the path to normalizing homosexuality and tolerating infanticide is headed towards Totalitarianism. Keeping Christianity out in the open is only thing that will be able to stop the UK’s slide into darkness.

David Letterman's hate is as old as some ancient Hebrew prophets.
Speaking of anti-Semitism, it's Jerry Falwell and other fundy leaders who've gleefully predicted that in the future EVERY nation will be against Israel (an international first?) and that TWO-THIRDS of all Jews will be killed, right?
Wrong! It's the ancient Hebrew prophet Zechariah who predicted all this in the 13th and 14th chapters of his book! The last prophet, Malachi, explains the reason for this future Holocaust that'll outdo even Hitler's by stating that "Judah hath dealt treacherously" and "the Lord will cut off the man that doeth this" and asks "Why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother?"
Haven't evangelicals generally been the best friends of Israel and persons perceived to be Jewish? Then please explain the recent filthy, hate-filled, back-stabbing tirades by David Letterman (plus Sandra Bernhard, Larry David, Kathy Griffin, Bill Maher, Joan Rivers, and Sarah Silverman) against Christians like Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin, and explain why most Jewish leaders have seemingly condoned such "crucifixion"!
While Letterman etc. are tragically turning comedy into tragedy, they are also helping to speed up and fulfill the Final Holocaust a la Zechariah and Malachi, thus helping to make the Bible even more believable!
