Here in America and overseas in the United Kingdom our societies are encouraging the sexualization of our teen and pre-teen daughters. Sadly, this kind of thing is justified in the name of fitness and self esteem. We saw this here in America with pre-teen girls gyrating to a Beyonce song at a World of Dance competition. Worse, we have Christians thinking there is nothing wrong with pole dancing as a way of working out. We just had news about a mom injecting her 8 year old daughter with Botox. Now in the UK, girls as young as 12 years old, can learn how to pole dance. From the Daily Mail:
A dance school has been criticised for offering pole-dancing lessons to children as young as 12.
The Art of Dance pole dance and burlesque school in Plymouth, Devon, has been accused of teaching children to ‘parade like strippers’.
But it insists that the classes are simply aimed at making the youngsters fitter and stronger.
The classes, which began this week for children aged 12 to 15, have been heavily criticised by an MP and a Christian group.
But others have backed the lessons, saying they are a ‘valid form of exercise’.
Sam Remmer, founder of the company, and who runs the classes, has also defended them, saying there was a ‘big difference’ between fitness pole dancing and exotic dancing.
The lessons are also designed to help boost self-confidence, she claims.
The dance school’s website promotes the lessons as the ‘gymnastic art of pole dancing’.
Yes, the “gymnastic art of pole dancing”. How long before we see this in the Olympics? Maybe synchronized pole dancing? Maybe we should try teaching our daughters right from wrong and that one’s character is more important than one’s looks. Who is looking out for our youth these days? Clearly not those seeking turn our daughters into sexual objects or the parents helping this happen by letting their daughters do this.
