Are There Socialists In Heaven?
-
The recent video of Congresswoman Maxine Waters saying that she hopes the Tea Party goes to Hell and then that she wants to help it’s members get there has brought up an interesting question. Are there Socialists in Heaven? I ask this because Waters has let it slip that she is in fact a Socialist. I doubt that she or any other Socialist will be in Heaven since they clearly despise anything that limits their lust for power, particularly the 10th Commandment.
“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.” Exodus 20:17
Socialists also likely despise the first four Commandments that identify the one and only God and state that there should be no worship of false gods. This would rub the Socialist the wrong way because they seek to make the State their god. The Socialist State would be a place that decides right and wrong and who lives and who dies, and it could not tolerate any restraint on it’s power. Socialists would also have contempt for Jesus since He claimed to be the Savior of the world, which would mean that Socialist cannot save us. Maxine Waters might have a lot of company in the afterlife but it will be the kind she is not expecting. And no Ms. Waters, I do not wish a place in Hell for you, even though you may wish it upon me.

While I wouldn’t wish hell even on my worst enemy, I’m afraid you may be right here.
Todd,
I'm surprised you would even ask such a question. Jesus was the biggest Socialist ever. (See Matthew 22:17-21) When asked about paying taxes who has the higher authority he said, "…Give unto Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and unto God the things that are God’s". That amounts to paying taxes twice!
I thought about that objection coming, but I didn't do a pre-emptive strike on it. No, Jesus was not a Socialist. Jesus' teachings put limits on the State and affirms personal property that should be used to help, not controlled by the State. A powerful State hurts the Church's mission.
