Could Obama’s News Health Care Regulations Provide An Opening For A Santorum Surge?
-
It seems the Obama Administration is digging it’s heals in on new health care regulations that will impact the Catholic Church. From TDC:
President Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign team is pushing back against the uproar caused by his suggestion that some religious employees aren’t worthy of a religious exemption from new sex-related insurance regulations.
But even some of his supporters are using his campaign website to declare their opposition to his policy.
The growing furor threatens to damage Obama’s already-weak support among swing-voting white Catholics in critical midwest states, including Ohio and Pennsylvania.
“November is a long time away… [but] the reaction suggests they may be having a problems,” said Tevi Troy, a former deputy secretary at the Department of Health and Human Services in President George W Bush’s administration.
Obama’s Jan. 20 decision directed the Catholic Church and other religious groups to buy contraception-related health insurance for employees at their hospitals, universities and charity groups, or pay heavy fines. Obama’s directive was based on his 2010 health-sector law.
That move is controversial because it uses the state power to pressure churches to abandon their religious opposition to contraception.
Critics say the decision violates the First Amendment, which says that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”
This may help Rick Santorum even more as polls show he has closed the gap in a one on one against Obama. From Hot Air via Rasmussen:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that 26% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -14 (see trends).
In a potential Election 2012 matchup, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum is at 45% while President Obama earns 44%. This is the first time in any poll that Santorum has led the president. Several other GOP challengers have led the president a single time in the polls including Rick Perry, Herman Cain, and Newt Gingrich. Each man briefly held the lead while they were surging in the polls, only to fall quickly. It remains to be seen what will happen to Santorum’s support.
A lot can still change from now until November, but this suggests that Obama’s re-election prospects may be in real trouble.

I DO NOT see how ANY practical Catholic can support Soetoro. His belief in unlimited abortion on demand, same-sex marriage and treating perverts as a minority, allowing public sector union bosses to dictate policy, and supporting Islam over Christianity should absolutely turn off any Catholic.
