Starbucks, Guns, And Gays: A Christian’s Dilemma
-
Do we Christians love our guns more than we “hate” gays? Because the policies of Starbucks might just cause a conflict among our positions. In Washington the coffee giant is supporting the legalization of gay marriage. In states that let people carry guns in public, Starbucks allows guns in their stores. Would a boycott even make an impact since companies are so interconnected these days? We could have Liberal protesting Starbucks for one thing and Conservatives protesting it for another. But depending on the state, you could have both Liberals and Conservatives protesting Starbucks and supporting Starbucks at the same time. For Christians, the Bible is clear about the sinfulness of homosexuality so I think that issue ought to take primacy, but I am not sure a boycott would really do anything. Is there a clear cut Conservative coffee chain somewhere out there that Conservatives and Christians could buy their coffee in good conscience?
